Oh!
A strong wind just passed their small wooden house, which
is surrounded by lots of fruit trees and bamboos. May be
this is the way Allah is saving the poor people. Amina came
back to reality and took Rina and Rahima to the Chowdhury
Villa; she knows Mina will take care of her house. The villa
was already been crowded; its not been allowed to
get into the Villa. So Amina choose a corner with her two
bare footed daughters. Actually, they were doing fine and
they had nothing but happiness in their life but a bad storm
came and took the ecstasy from her life. Kalim MIA was fired
from his job because he wasnt regular in his job.
It was a doomsday for this family. Amina knows that Allah
is giving her a hard time to examine her patience, and she
has to prove her endurance. After all these happenings on
her life, Amina was strong in mind. She asked Kalim MIA
to go to the town and find another job without loosing heart
and Kalim Mia went to the town and that was the last time
Amina saw Kalim.
Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh is not a big one comparing
to other capitals of Asia but its one of the crowded
one and no one can say its not challenging to cope
up with the system here in Dhaka. Kalim was sleeping in
his room; he took this room with a rent of 200 Taka. Kalim
was thinking of his life, his past, every dream was coming
out of his mind. The day when he came here in this town
and the day he came here without a job were too different.
He had 50 Taka in his pocket; he was looking for a job.
He didnt find anything although he tried heart and
soul. In the afternoon he went to a restaurant, which was
beside the Gulistan road, he took a plate of rice and an
egg. He ate all the rice voraciously without watching the
dust coming out from the road. Hunger is the best sauce
was true for Kalim at that moment. Kalim started to move
again. He was passing by the sahabag road, suddenly two
guy appeared in a rush and beat him mercilessly and snatched
rest of the money from him, they kept beating him and asked
him to gave them more money. Kalim was crying and asking
them, Please let me go, I dont have any money;
I am a poor guy. But who is going to listen to this
simple Kalim. He had no power to save himself. Kalim was
surprised to see a policeman standing right next to the
scene; he was chewing something and concentrating on cleaning
his ear. Kalim was bleeding; he was almost out of his normal
sense. He couldnt remember anything except a sweet
voice. That was Joynab, wife of Kasem. Kasem saw Kalim lying
on the walking street and took him to the government hospital.
There he gave some money to a man for his admission, otherwise
nobody cares for a patient.
How
do you feel now, asked Joynab? Kalim was thinking
of this place and the person talking to him. Is he dead?
Is he in Heaven? Kalim saw a beautiful lady standing in
front of her; she must be an angel, Kalim assumed. Joynab
was smiling to see Kalims surprising face. Kalim was
going to stand up at once to show his respect to an angel,
Joynab restricted him to do that. You are not yet
ready to stand on your feet, you need rest. Thank
God you are safe, you were almost dead. My husband saved
you. Now Kalim realized that he is still alive. Sukur
al-hamdulillah, said Kalim in a whispering voice.
Kalim asked Joynab with a shameful voice, Can I go
to the bathroom, its emergency. Joynab burst
out laughing, Kalim thought in him, only an angel can laugh
like that; he couldnt move his eyes from her. Joynab
asked a girl to give Kalim a bedpan and she gave him privacy
for his natural work. Kalim was still thinking why did she
laugh? Kalim was feeling free. He called Joynab again. Now
he wants to know everything, Joynab described how did he
come here. Kalim said, Where is your husband, I want
to say my Thanks to him. How can I repay what he has did
to me? What a fortune, Kalim got a room in Kasems
house, and also he got a job with Kasem as a partner. Kasem
taught him driving and he learned to drive quickly. Soon
he began to earn money and he started pay the rent every
month. He was thinking of sending money to Amina but he
was also thinking of making a lot of money to buy his own
taxi. Days were going on smoothly, but joy doesnt
want to be steady in a place. One morning Kasem found out
that his cars parts has been stolen. Kasem didnt
get upset because he knew who is the thief; he has been
living in this area for 7 yeears. So everybody knows him
as a good man and he knows everybody here. H went to the
nearest club and asked Kana Babul about the stolen car.
Kana Babul was the top terrorists on that area. Kana Babul
told Kasem not to show up his face in this club again. He
threatened him not to talk about it anymore or he will kill
him. Kasem went to the police station to ask for justice.
The police inspector was taking his breakfast; he said with
a careless voice, How do you know Kana Babul did
this. Kasem said, He is the only culprit who
is terrorizing in this area, you know that as much as others
do and he threatened me when I accused him. The police
inspector said, O.K Police will do their job, now
go home. Its my breakfast time. That evening
police went to the club and broke some glasses, Kana Babul
escaped before police came. Police arrested some innocent
young boys who were playing cricket in the street. Kalim
wasnt home; he came home in the afternoon to take
his launch. Kasem told him everything, Kalim said, I
dont think you did the right job here, informing the
police because the police will do nothing and Kana Babul
will be angry on you and he will try to harm you later on.
Kasem said, I am not afraid of Kana Babul, I want
justice. Kalim knows Kasem very well; he is a simple
honest man. Now Kalim is more experienced than Kasem about
this city. He wasnt happy with Kasems word,
he knew something was going to happen soon.
